IB Diploma

What is the IB Diploma?
The Diploma Programme (DP) curriculum is made up of six subject groups (please, see below for school subjects):
- Studies in Language & Literature
- Language Acquisition
- Individuals & Societies
- Experimental Sciences
- Mathematics
- The Arts
The DP core is comprised of theory of knowledge (TOK), creativity, activity, service (CAS) and the extended essay. Through the Diploma Programme (DP) core, students reflect on the nature of knowledge, complete independent research and undertake a project that often involves community service.


How do I build my Diploma?
In order to study the full IB Diploma, you must select the following:
- 1 subject at least from each of groups 1, 3, 4 and 5
- Another language ( either from group 1 or a language from group 2)
- Either group 6 (Visual Art) or any other subject from groups 3, 4.
- Theory of Knowledge, Extended Essay and Creativity, Action, Service (CAS) are compulsory for all Diploma students.
Remember you must also select:
- 3 at Higher Level – HL
- 3 at Standard Level – SL

What are the connections between my Diploma choices and University?
While you should choose subjects you really like and enjoy, keep in mind that your choices will affect your path to University. That’s why it’s important to check University requirements in advance.
